To the finishing line! The last two days of the 21 Day Green Smoothie Challenge…

Cartoon frog crossing finish lineIf you’ve been with us since January 13th and drinking one green smoothie each day, you may be running out of ideas by now… Last week we compiled everyone’s recipes to date so we could all get inspired and marvel at some of the participants’ creativity and boldness (the boldness was mostly Jade throwing in cabbage).

This week we’ve got something else for you: a tasty list of extra bits and pieces to throw into your smoothies to change them around and make them special. Sometimes slight tinkering can make a big difference in taste! Read on…

Some fun snippets from last week:

This time the boldness award goes to Miss Lexi for adding raw broccoli into her green smoothies – the ingenious little lady also used coconut water instead of plain filtered.

Dee still puts yours truly to shame with her blending skills and the beautiful shades of green she creates – check in her week 1 and week 2 summaries for her thoughts on the challenge so far.

Busy mums Jade and Anissa also joined in the fun and hopefully enjoyed renewed energy to care for their little cherubs.

Julie coined the phrase ‘wine glass irony’ (achieved by drinking a green smoothie in a wine glass) and managed to get her husband on board.

Mira’s Hand photos of her green smoothies in doubled wall glasses are worthy of framing and hanging on the wall (healthy is beautiful!).

When the challenge finishes in two days, we’re thinking of keeping going – we’re feeling so good! What about you? Are those eyes sparkling yet? Have you noticed any changes in your energy levels or otherwise?

    1. The overripe ones scare me, although you’re really supposed to only eat them this way 😛 Do you freeze your bananas? It tastes so rich and smoothie-ish when they’re frozen!

  1. I did participate in the challenge and had a green smoothie every day. I mostly used a spirulina powder blended with banana or mango or berries with soy, rice or almond milk.

  2. I missed one day – gah! I just completely forgot about it on either Monday or Tuesday. 😦

I really enjoyed doing this, and I intend to keep it up at least a few times a week. So, are we going to do a soup one when the weather gets cold? 😉

  3. Has it been 21 days already? Time flies!
I’m certainly not giving them up anytime soon.

I had one everyday of the challenge, bar one, but made it up by having them twice a day for the first 13 days of the competition
[then it got cold, so I still to my breakfast smoothie only haha]

My favourite combo was definitely Spinach, Broccoli, Kiwi and coconut water
Made this challenge harder on myself by quitting sugar last week, so this weeks smoothies have been pretty much the same with baby spinach, broccoli, almonds, coconut oil, LSA and water

Well done to everyone who participated! It’s been great seeing all the unusual (and some crazy) ideas come through, I stand can’t get lettuce…
